I take to the open road

"Afoot and lighthearted I take to the open road"
- Walt Whitman

In search of simplicity, we took the road less traveled and made our way into the desert. There was some sort of magic about this place; a serene stillness that silences your thoughts and a calming sense that spins through your soul. A magic so pure that it seeps into your skin and cleanses you, but only if you let it. You leave with a collection of snapshots tucked away in your memory to recollect at a later time.

Sand whipped around me, picking up my worries and taking them away. Inches of bare skin pressed up against the soft sand beneath me, steady sinking into it's embrace. I dipped down into one of the dunes, letting it hug me tight. Filling my lungs with the wild air and scanning the masterpiece before me, endless miles of dunes and desert in every direction, the creamy sand mixing on the horizon with the milky color of the sky; a delicious cocktail.

My heart will always seek the sea but there's something incredible about the desert that my being longs. A place so full of beauty that you have no choice but to stand still and drink it in. There's something addicting about a place that does that sort of thing to you.
