Years ago I decided to drop the agency I was represented by and freelance, that meant the emails, negotiating and bookings were all up to me. I didn't mind it though, I wanted an authentic connection between brand and creator without a manager in the middle of it all, this was so important to me.
Here are a few tips and tricks I've learned along the way.
1. Brandsnob - an influencer marketing platform
As an influencer, freelancing can be tough - creating a media kit, finding brands that match your style then reaching out to them, discussing the brief, staying on top of emails, sending out invoices and creating content that stays true to both you and your brands style, it's a lot to keep up with sometimes but for me it's important that the transparency between influencer and brand isn't lost in all of that.
Brandsnob is an influencer marketing platform that handles the tough business stuff so you can focus on playing (creating pretty content) and connecting with brands. The app is set up to keep things between you and the brand transparent with a detailed brief of what the campaign entails and what the brand expects from you. It also helps you stay on top of things by notifying you when new campaigns are listed and sending reminders when deadlines are approaching. I love that the app makes it easy for you to keep up with your work but what's most important to me is that you, as the content creator, are totally in control - you set the price you're willing to receive for your work, you're able to make offers on as many or as little campaigns as you'd like and you are in contact with the brands. It is all up to you!
2. Set your Style - what makes you unique?
Establish a style that will set you apart from others. For me it's my long hair, so when I first started I branded myself "The Girl with the Hair" and accepted contracts to work with select hair companies. For some people it's their editing style or gorgeous flatlays - whatever it is make sure it's something that makes ya stand out in the crowd.
3. Be Authentic - always, always, always
Remember these companies are trusting you with their vision for their business so always create content that stays true to both of you. Promote products that you actually love and believe in. Be genuine, answer any questions your followers have and always keep the brands you're working with updated with your projects. Another Brandsnob perk is that it pairs you with brands and campaigns that match your style - this is important for both you and the brand, so each of you are sharing work that stays true to you and what you promote / believe in.
So if you're a content creator that's just getting started or someone that's been doing this for years but is stuck in a rut download Brandsnob, follow these tips and get back to creating.
