El Convento

Hotel El Convento | @hotelelconvento
Old San Juan, Puerto Rico

We drove through the painted streets of Old San Juan, en route to hotel El Convento,. Colors danced across the buildings, from deep blue, to pink to yellow but in the most beautiful, well thought out way. I was already in love with this little section of the city.

We were helped up to our room, with a little tour of the hotel - there was fresh coffee brewed in the library throughout the day, complimentary cheese and wine every afternoon and a rooftop pool with a pretty view of the city, we felt right at home. The hotel staff made sure it stayed that way throughout our trip, they were so kind and helpful.

The hotel was beautiful, charming and quaint. Our room had balcony doors that opened up to the city, with the sea just past it - everything was stunning. A couple of ice cream shops were just a few steps away from the hotel so we ventured out for a sweet treat that evening then fell asleep to a rain storm, it was a dreamy first night in Old San Juan.

The rest of the trip was just as amazing. The hotel was a quiet place to come back to after a day adventuring around the busy city. We ate at the hotel twice, once for lunch and once for an incredible dinner. The drinks were fresh and the food was delicious, but the dessert - the chef surprised us with coffee ice cream and a brownie dish for dessert, it was the best ice cream I've ever had - I still think about it today.
